    Challenge 2:

    OOC: No dragons

    Gem

I shot upright in bed, knowing that something was wrong here. There had to be something going on because why, during the dead of night could I hear dragons coming towards the town? My mother never sent the dragons out like this during the night.

Moving to the window I looked out for a second to see a huge tongue of flames light up a house nearby. The golden dragon flew past, and I saw other houses being set on fire. This was not right at all. Who would do such a thing?

Then I caught a glimpse of the simply massive blue and red dragon watching from the sky as the others attacked. There was no mistaking him for Rhothilion. But what was he doing helping an attack on the town his rider's brother lived in? What had the people here done to ask for this extreme punishment?

I knew there was a reason for everything but that did not seem to matter to him. I remembered though that just this morning I had gotten a message from my mother, and that she had warned me about what Lindan Marcos was up to. That was something that worried me indeed.

    Auraka Lamya

The hand rested upon the sheath of the blade, tensing at the slightest of movements. People ran, screamed in pain and for mercy. Dragons roared, blazing anything in their paths.
He hurried along the paths, hurrying to help those in need. He was a general, at least in the elven army, and lived to serve.
"Come on," he encouraged a small child out of its hiding hole, picking it up gently and carrying it to a safer place on the edge of town, leaving him there with the simple command of hide in the forest until it was safer.

Hurrying back to the center of town, he dashed into a still standing building, hoping it was empty.
    It wasn't.
"Run for the forest!" he commanded, and they all ran out the door. Though, he knew people where upstairs.
Taking them several at a time, he barged in on each door, not wasting time on knocking.
But then he entered a room. A pretty girl stood at the window, clearly in shock.
"What did you see?" he asked quickly, rushing to her side and resting a hand on either shoulder. He had seen her around town, noticing she was elven like him.

    Gem

She did not notice when her door swung open, that was not something she was paying attention to at the moment. For a moment she did not answer, she knew that something bad had happened and it was because she was here.

Getting in control of her limbs once more, she moved out of his hands and turned to eye him off. Her eyes knew exactly who she was staring at, though she knew that this was not the place for any recognition to show at all.

Then she knew what she had to do. She'd heard him shouting below her, and that was something she knew she had to do. "I knew this was coming," she said. Then she gasped and ran for it. She knew that saying such a thing in the human town was folly.

She knew that things would not be pleasant among her mothers followers when she heard about this. "Mother is going to be furious when she learns of this destruction." But what had caused such a reaction. And what were these other Dragon Riders doing, doing things that were not the will of the Head Rider? It made no sense to her.

She eyed Rhothilion though. She could see that he was watching for something, and she sure as hell hoped he was not looking for elves. Same went for the half elves as well. Seeing as she was one of them. The dusk dragon had healing powers, that worked on humans and elves alike. Something she wanted no where near her.

She sighed, glaring at the dragon for a moment before following the others quickly away. She knew that her mother would know she was in trouble again, she had cast a spell that would alert her if there was trouble where Gem was.

Something red hit Gem though, and her legs buckled. She yelped as they did, rolling over to see a red dragon swooping down towards her, feet outstretched to grab her. Only seconds before he could though, something huge and gold rammed into him.

Bizandra. The leader of dragon kind at the moment. She roared, screaming in anger at the dragons. She was not the only one and Gem could see that her mother had brought enough dragons to sidetrack the attacking ones long enough for most of the townsfolk to escape.

She tried to move but failed, her legs and body would not obey her. "Help!"

    Auraka Lamya

He ran after her, moving quickly and easily though the now burning buildings. He knew her, not who she was, but he knew her face from somewhere. The street?
He could not help but gasp with terror as the dragon rammed into her, his sword free from its sheath before he noticed the huge golden dragon attacking it.
Dashing to her side, he looked upon her with worry.
"Are you okay?" he asked quickly, finally understanding that she could not move. Gathering her lightweight into his strong embrace, he sent a final look in the dragons direction and marched off, girl in his arms.
"Whats your name?" he asked her, curious though guessing this wasn't the time to ask.

    Gem

She grimaced as he found her again. He was certainly persistent at the moment. There was some thing about him though that she knew. “Gem,” she said quietly. It was no human name and she knew it. None of the humans here in the town seemed to care though that she was here amongst them. They actually hid her when the soldiers came.
The gates were not far from where she had been luckily. Things were not going to be easy though getting through. As they got closer a huge wall of flames came rushing towards them, coming from a dragon on the ground. Immediately, a huge green duck dragon leapt between them and the other dragon.
Gem gasped one word when she saw the rider. “Atar!”

    OOC: father

    Auraka Lamya

A small smile grew upon his maw, already loving her odd name. Clearly, it wasnt human. She was as elven as he was, and no doubt had her reasons for staying here just as he did.
He carried her light weight easily though the town, hurrying from burning buildings and dragons wishing he could do more to help the little town. It had grown to be his home.
His head snapped up at the word father, eyes landing upon the green dragon and rider before him. Her father was a rider?

The green dragon growled as his rider dismounted. Then the dragon leapt, savagely fighting against the other who had sent the fire towards the daughter of his rider.

The tall elven male looked at them for a second, knowing who they were. It was obvious that Gem was his daughter, now that they were close to each other. She had his blue eyes, and they sparkled for a second as she looked up at him. “Atar Uruohtar Zelphar Nightstar.”

“What happened to you?” the elf asked. He looked worried. Then there was a roar from the green dragon of pain and he turned, looking back to his other half in concern. “Bjart?” te two dragons were still locked together in combat.

    Auraka Lamya

"A dragon," he replied for her, bowing his head to the elven man. He, of course, knew who he was. All elves grew up knowing his name, as long as his wife and the current queen.
“Wait,” he muttered, looking from Gem to the elven king. Daughter? Father? She was royalty. He almost laughed out loud, he was holding the heir princess in his arms.
A loud crash behind him forced him to look over his shoulder, several dragons and there riders yelling and clambering all over each other.
“Your Majesty, I think it best we get to the safety of the forest...the villagers are waiting there...at least most of them.”

    Gem

“Get them all somewhere safe. It’s the best thing to do at the moment. Let the riders deal with this mess,” Zelphar said, nodding to Auraka. “Whatever that dragon did, it’ll wear off, eventually.”

With that he was off, heading back to join his dragon in the fighting. As he joined him, a huge golden dragon landed nearby as did a blue dragon. Rhothilion. Both Bjart and Bizandra roared as one, and attacked in a fury.

Gem sighed, looking up at Auraka. "You know, I can talk here. Just not anything else."

    Auraka Lamya

He nodded his head to the king, his daughter still in his arms.
“I’ll look after her,” he promised him, grinning sheepishly down at Gem.
“I know you can,” he chuckled once they were walking towards the forest “perfectly well.”
She was chatty that was sure, but her words relaxed him slightly as they moved away from the town.
“Deeper into the forest,” he commanded a group of humans, stringing near the edge of the forest. They clearly didn’t understand the danger. As one, they nodded meekly. Mothers carrying crying children, fathers ushering wives and daughters deeper and into safety. The young helping the old. A crying child, one he had helped before, looking up with watery eyes and Auraka sighed, looking down at Gem.
“Climb on my back, I’ll carry you as well,” he told him, kneeling so the brown-haired boy could reach as he wiped the tears from his cheeks and strangled him with a tight hold. Now carrying Gem and the boy, he continued on his way.

    Gem

She hated this, not being able to help with moving people. It was obvious that she was a leader, but now she felt completely useless. This seemed almost impossible, trying to help with the others. “At least their all safe with me.”

No harm would come to any of them if they stayed close. Only elves could bring visitors into the forest, and usually one of the nobles had to be amongst them. For now though she could do nothing but talk. Her eyes met one of the sentries concealed up in the trees and he backed off, to warn the others not to attack.

    Auraka Lamya

    He nodded “I know.”
He knew the ways of the forest just as well as she did, his eyes running over the sentries and nodding as they backed off, clearly seeing Gem and her command.
“Just enjoy the ride Princess,” he chuckled, walking easily despite the extra people he was carrying. He helped others were he could, but it was hard with his arms full.

    Gem

She sighed. It was not easy not being in this predicament. She wanted to be able to help the others, but at the moment, she could not. Things were impossible at the moment for her though. She was not in control of her body though and it annoyed her so much at the moment.

“I know.” Didn’t mean it was easy for her to accept. She was worried about her parents though, she knew that Rhothilion would be furious to see them come to the rescue again.

    Auraka Lamya

He noticed the worry and emotion flow over her pretty features, and it wasn’t hard to guess what was wrong.
Her parents, fighting the human king to save innocent lives. But he had faith in them, and their ability to finally rid this world of them. But, he didn’t have parents any more so he couldn’t say he would feel the same way as she did.
“Smile Brighteyes,” he told her gently, finally reaching the gates of the elven world and setting her on a step “they will be fine.”
He sat beside her, the child falling to his lap and just sitting there, watching everyone else talk quietly. Elves walked though the injured, healing them with calm words and herbs.
